Coming to the Savior

Brethren and Sisters, this last week while I was running, I was listening to a talk that had been suggested by the “Come, Follow Me” curriculum.  As the talk ended and my run had not, I decided to just continue to listen to the next talk in that General Conference.  The next talk was given by President Monson as he closed the April 2014 General Conference.  More than the planned talk, these words by President Monson brought comfort and change to my heart.  I want to share them with you, and hope that you can feel the Spirit as I did when I applied his words to today’s difficult circumstances and unrest.

President Monson asks, “may we resolve to do a little better than we have done in the past. May we be kind and loving to those who do not share our beliefs and our standards. The Savior brought to this earth a message of love and goodwill to all men and women. May we ever follow His example.

We face many serious challenges in the world today, but I assure you that our Heavenly Father is mindful of us. He will guide and bless us as we put our faith and trust in Him and will see us through whatever difficulties come our way.

May heaven’s blessings be with each of us. May our homes be filled with love and courtesy and with the Spirit of the Lord. May we constantly nourish our testimonies of the gospel, that they will be a protection for us against the buffetings of the adversary.”

I testify that as we come to the Savior, we will be changed and become like him.  We will be kinder, love more, serve more and realize as President Monson said, “how close to us He is willing to come, how far He is willing to go to help us, and how much He loves us.”

May God Bless Us,
Brother Matt Rogers

WARD ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Seeking Truth in the Book of Mormon:

To help strengthen our own testimonies and invite others to discover the truths contained in the Book of Mormon, Mike and Zoe Weston (our ward leader and missionary) delivered a package to each family this week. It contains a Book of Mormon, a copy of the Proclamation on the Restoration read by President Nelson in General Conference, and a list of key questions that the Book of Mormon answers. Please visit with your ministering families to discuss plans for using these resources or possibly sharing the Book of Mormon with others and to answer any questions they may have.
