Recently, for family night, we decided to try doing some name indexing as a service. I must confess that I had never done that before. I had always imaged that I might enjoy it. My next door neighbor, Verna Marlowe, is a pro at it. Luckily, my daughter, Robyn, had done this before, so she got Janette and me to the right website and we took a crack at it. Here’s what we did. We went to the following website.
https://www.familysearch.org/en/
I signed in using the same sign-in that I use on the Church’s website. I then clicked on “Indexing” and before I knew it I was looking at records where names could be found. You can have some influence on the types of records you are researching. I picked one that was from the United States. That seemed like an easier place to start. It felt good to finally be doing something I have visualized doing for a long time, now. So, I have finally done my first “batch”. Thank heavens for encouragement to have Family Night activities and thank heavens I didn’t have to leave my home. I really feel grateful for these things.
Perhaps this is a really meager start, but it actually did feel like a start, so I felt good about that. Now to do my next “batch”.
