Weekly Bishopric Message (9/25)

Brothers and Sisters:

It was good to meet together again last week—in person and remotely via Zoom. Our unique meeting situation reminded me of a comment made by President Eyring a few years ago in General Conference when he spoke on gathering. He said: “Wherever you are and however you are hearing my voice, please know that even though you are not with us in person, we feel that you are with us in spirit. We hope all of you will feel one with us—that you will feel the spiritual power that comes whenever a body of believers gathers in the name of Jesus Christ.”

Whether in person or via Zoom, we are continuing to meet together weekly on Sundays starting at 8:30 a.m.

First Hour / Sacrament Meeting – 8:30 a.m.

This week, those meeting in person for sacrament meeting are:

            1.         Families and individuals with the last name beginning in J-Z;

            2.         Individuals who are not able to consistently receive the sacrament in their homes;

            3.         Individuals without a priesthood holder in the home who can bless the sacrament; and

            4.         Empty nesters who would prefer to attend weekly.

Those who attend in person will participate in the sacrament portion of the meeting following the talks and closing prayer.

Those who are not meeting in person, our meeting at 8:30 a.m. is still considered our ward’s sacrament meeting and we invite you to attend with us via Zoom. After the opening hymn and prayer, announcements, talks, closing hymn, and prayer, the Zoom feed will end. The members of our ward participating at home via Zoom are then invited to administer the sacrament at that time in their homes.

Also, for those participating at home, please mute your microphones and turn off your video/cameras during the meeting.

Finally, we encourage those at home to come to the meeting (via Zoom) in their Sunday best to help maintain the important nature and reverent spirit of this special meeting.

See the email from Brother Nash for the link to the Zoom meeting.

Second Hour – 10:00 a.m.

This week for our second hour of church, the Elder’s Quorum, Relief Society, and Young Men Quorums have each prepared lessons to present via Zoom, which meetings will start at 10:00 a.m. Zoom information/links for each of the 10:00 a.m. classes has been or will be sent by separate emails to members of the Elders Quorum, Relief Society, and Young Men Quorums.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to a member of the Bishopric at your convenience.
