Temple & Family History Newsletter #7 –July 16, 2023
UPCOMING EVENTS

  1. Our ward temple day is normally on the third Wednesday of each month. Each individual will need to make their own appointment. We suggest you make your appointment in advance to ensure that space is available at the designated session. A NOTE ON WARD TEMPLE DAY. The purpose of the ward temple day is to help us consider regular temple attendance. If you cannot attend the temple on ward temple day or time, we encourage you to attend an ordinance of your choice sometime during the month. The ward temple days for the third quarter of 2023 will be as follows:
    Date Endowment Session Time
    July 19 6:30 pm
    August 16 6:30 pm
    September 20 6:30 pm
Please arrive 30 minutes before the session begins.
  2. Our next sealing opportunity is scheduled for September 27th . We have reserved slots in the 6:30PM, 6:45PM, and 7:00PM sessions. A sign-up sheet will be passed around in church on the 17th and 24th .
For more information contact Maurine Grover.
  3. The Baptism & Confirmation activity with the youth continues to be a huge success. The youth have several baptismal and confirmation dates scheduled during the summer. There are times when they can help other ward members by taking their cards and doing the work for baptisms and confirmations. The following guidelines apply throughout the summer months. If you need help getting baptisms and confirmations completed, contact Gary or Ruth Ann
Chambers. They will keep track of what you give them. They will coordinate with the youth leaders and get your cards to them. The youth will take them to the temple and do as many names as they can. Names not done will be returned to you by the Chambers.
  4. Another reminder on ordinances being done in order. There have been some questions regarding doing temple ordinances in order, beginning with baptisms and confirmations, and moving forward. The following should help give clarification. This quote comes from the Family Search Website. “Vicarious ordinances performed out of sequence are valid, but they become effective only after the prerequisite ordinances are completed. The FamilySearch Family Tree website enforces the correct order of individual ordinances: baptism,
confirmation, initiatory, and endowment. It is preferred that sealings be done after individual ordinances, but it is not required. Family Tree does
not enforce the order of sealings for deceased persons. A deceased couple can be sealed before their individual ordinances are done. Likewise, a deceased child can be sealed to deceased parents before the parents are sealed and before the parents’ individual ordinances are done. If a sealing ordinance was done out of order, you should simply make sure that the rest of the ordinances get done. You do not need to report the issue to FamilySearch Support. Nor do you need to redo the sealing. The sealing becomes valid after the individual ordinances are done.”
  1. We again thank you for being part of the Gathering of Israel. May the Lord bless you in your efforts. We rejoice in seeing increased temple activity in the ward. So far this year, more names are being submitted for temple work and more members are logging in to Family Search than have happened in previous years.
  2. CHALLENGE
During this next month, give up ½ hour of watching TV and use that ½ hour exploring Family Search. It just might become a habit.

We still need help with Indexing. Give it a try.
We hope your summer is going well with much needed time to relax and enjoy family and
friends.
