Temple & Family History Newsletter #8 – August 13, 2023

We hope your summer went well.  Hard to believe that it is back to school time already.  We know that many families were able to catch up on missed vacations experienced during the Covid time.

UPCOMING EVENTS – The first three items are reminders for upcoming events.

1.  Our ward temple day is normally on the third Wednesday of each month. Each individual will need to make their own appointment. We suggest you make your appointment in advance to ensure that space is available at the designated session.  A NOTE ON WARD TEMPLE DAYThe purpose of the ward temple day is to help us consider regular temple attendance.  If you cannot attend the temple on ward temple day or time, we encourage you to attend an ordinance of your choice sometime during the month. The ward temple days for the third quarter of 2023 will be as follows:

                Date                                      Endowment Session Time

                August 16                            6:30 pm

                September 20                   6:30 pm

Please arrive 30 minutes before the session begins.

2.  Our next sealing opportunity is scheduled for September 27th. We have reserved slots in the 6:30 PM, 6:45 PM, and 7:00 PM sessions.  A sign-up sheet will be passed around in church on the 17th and 24th.  For more information contact Maurine Grover.

3.  The Baptism & Confirmation activity with the youth continues to be a huge success.  The youth have several baptismal and confirmation dates scheduled during the summer.

There are times when they can help other ward members by taking their cards and doing the work for baptisms and confirmations.  The following guidelines apply throughout the summer months.

  • If you need help getting baptisms and confirmations completed, contact Gary or Ruth Ann Chambers. They will keep track of what you give them.
  • They will coordinate with the youth leaders and get your cards to them.
  • The youth will take them to the temple and do as many names as they can.
  • Names not done will be returned to you by the Chambers.

4. Report on our temple activity for July.  We rejoice in seeing increased temple activity in the ward.  So far this year, more names are being submitted for temple work.

5.  There is a decline in Indexing and names being added to Family Trees.  With the busy summer coming to an end, we encourage you to devote time to this most important work.

6.  CHALLENGE IDEA

Have a date with your spouse or a friend to attend a different nearby temple and allow time for not only the temple session, but for lunch or a favorite treat too.  You will love it. REMEMBER TO MAKE YOUR APPOITMENT ONLINE BEFORE GOING.
